To preserve muscle mass, we suggest eating at least 0.8 grams of protein per pound of desired body weight.  Simply multiple your desired body weight by 0.8 to calculate your minimum protein requirement.   A person with a goal weight of 140 should eat 112 grams of protein ( 140 X 0.8= 112).

Men: Aim for about 12-13 cups of fluids per day.

Women: Aim for about 9-10 cups of fluids per day.

These amounts can include water, as well as other beverages like tea, coffee, and milk. However, water is typically the best option for hydration, as it doesn’t contain added sugars or calories.

To prevent constipation while taking GLP-1 receptor agonists:

1. Increase Fiber: Aim for 25-30 grams daily from fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
2. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water, around 74-100 ounces daily.
3. Exercise Regularly: Engage in physical activity like walking to stimulate digestion.
4. Establish a Routine: Set a regular bathroom schedule and don’t ignore urges.
5. Consider Fiber Supplements: If needed, use psyllium husk or similar, with plenty of water.
6. Monitor Your Dose: Start low and gradually increase your GLP-1 dose; consult your doctor if issues persist.

These steps can help manage and prevent constipation.
